Downloadable offline maps is perfect for those without service or wifi. Location search is needed and accidentally remove pins too easy just trying to deselect them. But overall excellent. Fried every other map Prog and gps maps and this is the winner. It just needs what google has and visa versa. Sometimes seems offline maps dont show so sorta iffy there but was free and believe still is so why people complain. Its better than $10 gps apps Ive bought since they dont work if you dont have cel service. The app does need a way to notify about errors in maps. I notice lately seems my house is area 51 since its recently been removed from all map sites and the roads are wrong. So be nice to have that added

This is a useless program. Ive been using the free Nokia maps on my phone for years. Slow, out of date, quirky interface. Whatever. They are certainly good enough. Open maps, however, is pointless. When Im standing in Durham, NC--and it knows that Im in Durham, NC, the search function does not weight Durham NC as any more likely to be where I want to go than Durham- ENGLAND. So, if I enter 504 Main St, Durham--it may bloody well send me around the world. Also, you have to know who to search. Are you looking for Lake Placid Village or Onchiota Hamlet or Durham Town? If you dont know which word to use, then you cant find it. FInally, maps only stay in the cache for 7 days. I want 2gbs worth of maps on me at all times. I dont mind the space, I just want portable maps for my device that dont require net access.

I researched for a downloadable map for my europe trip. I took the word of this app producer. It indeed could down load the map to my system. BUT, when came to real test, it dose not work without data roaming plan. I have to use data roaming that made it work. If so, why i need this app at first place? No map is better than google map except no downloadable map. It also has no turn by turn function without subscription. Its a joke. I spend money for nothing but a ad app solicited for subscription. I never know that apple will allow such app put on their store to grab money. I over trusted apple, and thought that they wont allow any garbish put on. This is a new invented FISHING trick. This type of apps will turn people away. At least I will not buy any app if I couldt test it first. Apples name is always means highest quality. Such app will make a dent on its name.

Its a great app if you want to see your postion on the openstreetmap as you drive (or walk or bike). Skobbler has a much better design and display of the map but only works with routing...it wont simply let you scroll through the map or track as you drive without a route going. Another feature Id like is tracking. There are apps that display the osm map and there are gps tracking apps (for uploading your trace in order to use it to edit the map later) but no app does both! Lets fine tune this baby and add some features and well have a 5 star app here.

Search is useless, but map caching works well sometimes. Cant rely on it. An instruction web site would be good! The update map feature is broken. The mail url feature is broken.

The main reason to have this app is to be able to download maps and use them with no interactions with the internet. There is a setting called Offline Mode. However, once it is selected (set to ON), the app becomes unusable - any operation on the map displays a message "Error Loading Geotweets". The message obstructs the map.

I took this to Europe and I used it all the time - I didnt have to pay those outrageous data roaming fees just to know where I was. (be sure to download your maps before you go - watch the video to find out how). Last weekend I took it along to a new town on the coast. When I lost cell signal google maps was useless but openmaps worked great. Nice to see lots of new features and steady improvement!

Was looking for an easy way to have map data for iPod touch when not wifi connected. Good tool, but does not allow an easy way to download a large area of maps. I had to continually select the largest download area and reposition. Not quite what I was hoping for. Almost, but hopefully a fix will come to easily download large areas at multiple zoom levels... Not ready for prime time.

Since ver-up to 4, this app crashes at launch on my 3GS. It was useful when I visited China in October, but now I wont be able to use it in Spain next week. Major disappointment.

For what it is it is the best global tool of its kind. I do wish they would teak the open map display engine and allow setting label size to a larger value in the App. This is especially important when using a foreign character set and matching the names to street signs. My only other big issue is that Open Maps has the building numbers in places like Kyiv, and the English transliteration of the street names but the search mechanism cant find them. I know the open maps database is not to blame as other web and desktop apps work just fine off the same data. The bonus would be to allow display of the names in the non default language (like English for me instead of Russian) if it exists in the OpenMaps database. A fine app, and I hope they keep improving it.

ts good that an update is already available to fix live tracking and compass mode, which broke with the iOS 4.3 update. It is a pleasant surprise that this update also brings some nice little additions and tweaks aside from the aforementioned live tracking fix. My favorite is the additional info displayed when tapping on my current location(blue ball), namely elevation and coordinates, thats awesome!

Slow map download. Terrible search ability. Just kinda slow and sluggish.

Need to have some way to access instructions when using. Cannot delete pin. Location off by some.

With no indication that the app is going to be fixed, I cannot recommend it, even tho it worked great in its previous incarnation.

it seems that this app is abandoned. location indicator doesnt work in latest iOSes, its been like this for months, and still nothing was done. i think this app should be removed from appstore since it doesnt work as advertised anymore.

Ive paid for something that is not updated/maintained at all. Position isnt shown and adding points doesnt work. Update or remove from appstore.

used to work for what it was. after i updated it crashes all the time. waste of money.

The app crashes on boot-up every single time on an iPhone 4 running 5.1 The core program is great. Ive used it many times and loved it. But it took forever to fix the location marker, then this update just a couple weeks later breaks the thing entirely. Quality control is just not there.

Would be great to have additional editing functions, especially with the GPS capabilities of iOS devices.
